How Tims Strategy Tool Can Help Your Job Search

How Tims Strategy Tool Can Help Your Job Search I recently had a chat with our great buddy Tim Tyrell-Smith, something I like to do on a regular basis (see our previous chat here). Tim is an author, blogger, speaker, coach and consultant in the job search, career and marketing space. He is one of the most genuine and credible guys out there and I always look forward to reading/hearing what he has to say. This time around, Tim had some exciting news for anyone looking to have a clear job search or career strategy he and his team have developed a piece of software aptly named Tims Strategy: So, what does the software do? Tims Strategy offers a structured, step-by-step process to establish a job search strategy.  As Tim said, “It’s like tax software for your job search”.  A complex and often misunderstood process is broken down into smaller, “easier to chew” pieces. And there is significant help (including video) at every step.   Specifically, the software delivers the following: Identification of clear and specific job search objectives (plus help with target companies) A personal branding strategy and profile A complete set of personal marketing materials (resume, cover letter, bio, business card, elevator pitch, references) A customized networking strategy including targeted introductions A purposeful strategy for interview preparation OK, what doesn’t it do? It’s not a job board. It doesn’t let you search for job leads and it won’t send you any. It doesn’t compete with Monster or Indeed. It’s not a social network for job seekers or career professionals. So it doesn’t compete with LinkedIn or BranchOut. It’s not a CRM system to track leads and manage your ongoing job search. It doesn’t compete with  JibberJobber. Some of the features (like targeting employers) are limited to the US. Tim will add international functionalities over time but its currently most useful for Americans. To sum up, Tims Strategy helps you build a smart, personalized job search strategy. I think the tool looks great and having known Tim for a number of years now, I know how passionate he is about helping people to succeed in their careers. Special reader offer! Tim recently completed a third round of beta testing and is now ready to offer early and discounted access to you (or a friend), to take advantage of this offer, go to the site and use this promo code just for readers of The Undercover Recruiter:  TIMS4TUR When you do, youll save 67% off the sign up price and pay less than $49.99 upfront.  Whats the catch?  Well none really. But there is a chance that youll find an issue Tim hasnt seen yet. If you do, please let him know and theyll get it fixed ASAP. Get yourself signed up to  Tims Strategy  today! (And please report back how you find it).

Heres How To Ensure That Your Finances Look Healthier This Time Next Year

Here’s How To Ensure That Your Finances Look Healthier This Time Next Year Americans are feeling optimistic about the state of their finances. A new Gallup survey has revealed that  45% of women are better off today  than they were this time last year. Meanwhile, 69% of the population anticipate that they’ll be in an even better financial position in a year’s time. However, in order to achieve this monetary goal, it’s essential to  manage your money more effectively. Curb unnecessary spending According to Forbes, coffee, shoes, and jeans are the three things which  U.S Millennials are needlessly spending out on. And, it’s women who are faring the worst. 75% of American females own more than 20 pairs of shoes, yet wear just three or four pairs of them. What’s more, women pay 10% more than men for a pair of jeans and spend a total of $161 per month on clothing. To ensure that you are in a better financial position this time next year, it’s time to review your spending habits. Pledge to only buy what is necessary and avoid spur-of-the-moment purchases which do nothing other than ruin your bank balance and sit in the back of your wardrobe. Be loan savvy Taking out a personal loan is a growing trend in the U.S. There are currently 20 million outstanding personal loans in the country, which is an increase of 50% in just three years. Personal loans are  most commonly used to tackle existing debt, according to PR Newswire. Although, they are also frequently used for home improvements, significant purchases, and medical bills. When you’re borrowing funds for items, make sure you keep a look out for hidden fees and charges. Additionally,  take note of the repayment terms  and make sure you meet all your repayments. Taking these steps will give you a good chance of being in a much more prosperous situation this time next year. Start saving One in four people doesn’t have any emergency savings. However, should your car suddenly break down or your home require an urgent repair, you’ll soon find your hopes of a flourishing 2020 dwindling. The savings you make by curbing your unnecessary spending should be tucked away in a high-interest savings account ready to fall back on if and when required. It’s also wise to set up a regular standing order so that cash is automatically transferred into a savings account for you each month. It’s great that Americans are confident about their financial future. But, it’s important not to become complacent and to manage your money better over the next 12 months so that you meet your goal.

Women Helping Women - Get Ahead Club Member Spotlight

Women Helping Women - Get Ahead Club Member Spotlight Note from Anna: Today I want to share with you a little more about the Get Ahead Club in case you have been on the fence to join. Sara Wells, Blogger at www.faketillmake.com, offered to share with Classy Career Girl readers her experiences in the club.  Sara is a Career Specialist living outside of Maryland and shares on her blog ways to make the most of your career and finances. I hope that you will also join myself and over 30 professional women in the club today.  To learn more about how to join  before the price increases on April 1st CLICK HERE. Recently I got an email from a former high school classmate announcing the publication of her first book.   I have to admit that my first reaction was something akin to jealousy â€" but thankfully, I’ve had enough “foot in mouth” moments to learn to think before I react.   As I read more about her endeavors, my jealousy morphed into pride as I realized how incredible it is that a woman I know is doing so well; and though my accomplishments are different, I realized I can be proud of them too in the same breath.   I believe this ability to truly be happy for the accomplishment of others is something that female professionals are naturally more inclined to.   More than that, I think we, as women, are uniquely gifted at helping one another to achieve.   Men can also set aside ego for the good of someone else, I just argue that we women may do it a bit better. It is that professional camaraderie that I appreciate most about Classy Career Girl’s “Get Ahead Club”.   The online networking lounge has been a place where professional women have safely shared goals, successes, and questions â€" met with encouragement.   Each member of the club, (especially club founder Anna Runyan), seems to be genuinely interested in seeing others succeed.   I think this is because part of being a Classy Career Girl is learning that the proverbial success pie is big enough for everyone to have a slice, and any woman who tries to consume the whole thing is far from classy. Which brings me to a topic I am very passionate about as a career development professional â€" that is “women helping women”.   If I were to pinpoint the most influential people in my career, the majority of them have been strong women.   Managers and mentors have helped me along the way and given me a boost that they weren’t obligated to give.   Lessons learned from wise women tend to stick, and I think that’s what makes the “Get Ahead Club” work.   Members of the club have bi-monthly opportunities to hear from accomplished female professionals on topics ranging from time management to salary negotiations â€" and everything in between.  Anna Runyan makes her own career consultation skills available through mini career coaching calls, and QA sessions with club members.   Maybe it’s just because I’m an auditory learner â€" but hearing the interviews of the women Anna Runyan features helps the important lessons stick. The thing I like most about the “Get Ahead Club” is also the thing that I find most important to the concept of women helping women in the professional world.   Club members are encouraged to not just take resources from the club â€" but to give back as well.   This is especially critical in our difficult labor market.   In 2012 the AP reported that 53.6% of college graduates were unemployed or underemployed in 2012.   That’s a daunting figure for young professionals emerging into a scary corporate world.   And so, “Get Ahead Club” members are empowered to reach out and pay it forward to other young professionals.   True success is contagious, not jealous or selfish, and there’s plenty of it to go around in the world of professional women.   I would advise every professional woman to seek out a community such as the “Get Ahead Club” for learning, encouragement, and accountability. Note from Anna:    I hope that you will join myself and over 30 professional women in the club!  To  can learn more about how to join  before the price increases on April 1st  CLICK HERE.

Financial anxiety at university and how to deal with it

Financial anxiety at university and how to deal with it This article was written by an external contributor. Georgia Beith talks us through what financial anxiety is and how to best deal with it while at university. We all know that the stereotype of the stressed out, overworked, broke student is more than a little true, and for good reason. It is easy for people to write these feelings off as the over-dramatic concerns of students who are just shocked by their first experience of the ‘adult world’ but financial anxiety is real, and it is not to be scorned at. What is financial anxiety? Financial anxiety is any kind of worry, stress or anxiety surrounding personal finances or money. Though not categorised as an illness or condition in its own right, it is recognised by psychologists as a phenomenon which can have a profoundly negative impact upon an individual’s health and well-being. Like any kind of stress, the effect on physical and mental health can be worse than expected. What is particularly harmful about financial anxiety is that whether we like it or not, money plays a huge part in our daily lives. So if it because a source of anxiety for us, then it can lead to near constant worry. Why does it affect students so much? Maybe it has something to do with hearing about how our prospects look so much bleaker than our parents’ did. Or how the job market is flooded with thousands of people just like you, all looking for the same position. Or how property prices are rocketing sky high, and dreams of one-day owning our own homes are unfeasible. Not to mention how tuition fees seem to be rising with each new year, and we are all destined to graduate dragging along a mountain of student debt. The future always seems less than bright, and it does paint a picture of a financial situation that isn’t so pretty. Whether that is true or not, it is easy for students and young adults to get wrapped up in the idea that it’s hopeless and we’re destined to be broke forever. For the majority of us, university is our first experience of managing our own money. Even with the best support network, it’s easy to feel like you’ve been cast adrift at sea with scarcely a clue about what you’re doing. Alongside being thrown into a completely unfamiliar environment with a whole host of other new situations, it is a steep learning curve indeed. What can I do to make things a little easier? Whether your finances are in dire need of some TLC, or it’s just your mind that needs to be put at ease, there is always something you can do. Rework your budget This is perfect if your spending habits could do with being put in check. Figuring out where your money is going and where it actually should be going is a good way of working out where you can cut out expenses. In fact, just the process of getting everything written down and organised might help put some worries to bed, and perhaps help you see that you’re not doing so bad after all. Talking about it As with any problem, talking it out with someone whether that be a friend or a family member is always going to make your problems seem less insurmountable. A fresh pair of eyes might give you some new ideas and clever ways to save that you hadn’t thought of yourself. Sourcing a little extra cash If you don’t already have a part-time job, it is a really good way to supplement your student loan while you’re at university. While you are limited to 20 hours per week, no matter where you are in the country there will be something you can find. On-campus jobs can often be tailored to fit around your studies, but most places will happily take on students for weekend and evening work. The extra disposable income certainly won’t go amiss. If things are really bad, you could research to see if your university offers any bursaries or scholarships that you’re eligible for. Seeking help from your university Most universities should offer some kind of formal support for dealing with your finances. This help is vital if you’re truly feeling as though you can’t cope with your current situation and are considering drastic measures like dropping out all together. The last thing your university wants is for you to suspend your studies due to money problems, and they are there to guide you through. The most important thing to remember is that it is one of the most natural things in the world to be a little concerned about money when you’re at university. In fact, a little worry can be a good thing, and can help you keep yourself in check. But excessive stress and panic doesn’t help anyone, it’ll only make you feel worse, and will stop university being something that should be enjoyable. It is easy to feel like a failure if you’re not keeping on top of your finances, but the chances that you’re the only person you know who feels like this are incredibly low.
